Abstract
THE RESEARCH MATERIAL MAINLY CONSISTED OF THE DECISIONS MADE IN 1969 BY THREE COURTS IN CASES WHERE APPEAL WAS MADE BY A PERSON IN DETENTION. THE DEDUCTION OF TIME SPENT IN DETENTION WAS CLOSELY CONNECTED WITH A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL. THE STUDY ALSO CORRELATED DEDUCTION WITH THE TYPE OF OFFENSE, TYPE OF PUNISHMENT, REASON FOR THE DEDUCTION, AND ORIGIN OF THE APPEAL (ACCUSED OR PROSECUTOR). --IN FINNISH. SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
