This factbook provides data on persons detained, jailed, or imprisoned in Delaware for the years 1981 to 1990.
Abstract
The report has four sections that address detention, sentenced admissions, population profiles, and demographic profiles. Each section contains an introductory note, graphic representations of the data, and detailed tables for each year of the decade. The section on detention contains a table that shows admissions to detention for 14 types of crime. Another table classifies admissions according to the 7 broad offense categories used by the Sentencing Accountability Commission (SENTAC). A table shows the average time detained in days for each crime type, and another indicates the average time detained for the SENTAC categories. The second section follows a similar tabular format in presenting data on offenders sentenced to jail or prison. The third section provides a profile of the incarcerated population on June 30th of each year from 1981 to 1990. The population is classified by type of crime and by SENTAC category. The fourth section presents data on the demographic characteristics of the incarcerated population as of June 30th of each year. One table shows sex and race distributions by crime type, and a second table shows the average age classified by gender, race, and crime type.
