Abstract
RECOUNTED IN THE BOOK ARE CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS OF JUVENILE CASE HISTORIES. JUXTAPOSED WITH THE PERSONAL DESCRIPTIONS IS AN EXPLORATION OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GENESIS AND NATURE OF CERTAIN PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS, PARTICULARLY SCHIZOPHRENIA AND CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DYSFUNCTION. THIS KNOWLEDGE IS FOCUSED TOWARD AN UNDERSTANDING OF DELINQUENCY IN SOME CHILDREN. SPECIFICALLY, IT DOCUMENTS PSYCHOTIC AND ORGANIC SYMPTOMATOLOGY IN DELINQUENT CHILDREN AND SERIOUS PSYCHOPATHOLOGY IN SOME OF THEIR PARENTS. THE STUDY ALSO CALLS ATTENTION TO THE MANY DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS DISTURBED THINKING CAN TAKE. PARTICULARLY NOTED ARE THE TIME AND EXPERTISE NEEDED TO RECOGNIZE CERTAIN SERIOUS PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS THAT UNDERLIE A WIDE VARIETY OF DELINQUENT BEHAVIORS.
