This review of recent research explores public opinion and criminal justice professionals' attitudes toward crime, criminals, and the official response to crime.
Abstract
Some recent studies have found that the public favors rehabilitation of offenders over punishment as a goal of the criminal justice system. Studies of professional attitudes show that their attitudes vary according to, among other variables, the professional role. 2 tables and 57 references
