THIS IS A PICTORIAL, NARRATIVE, AND STATISTICAL SUMMARY OF DENVER POLICE DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES IN 1976 WITH PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DEPARTMENT IN THE 1800'S IN HONOR OF THE COLORADO STATE CENTENNIAL.
Abstract
THE FORCE OF 1357 SWORN PERSONNEL AND 294 CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES HAS INSTITUTED A MOTOR SCOOTER PATROL IN HIGH CRIME AREAS, HAS REPLACED SOME OF THE PARKING CONTROL SCOOTERS WITH JEEPS, AND IN DECEMBER WAS DESIGNATED AS ONE OF TWO POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN THE U.S. TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A REVISED DISCIPLINE SYSTEM. THE ANTIFENCING UNIT HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECOVERY OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF STOLEN GOODS AND HAS GREATLY REDUCED FENCING OF STOLEN GOODS IN THE DENVER AREA. THE SPECIAL CRIME ATTACK TEAM HAS BECOME A PERMANENT PART OF THE DEPARTMENT.
