LAST OF A FOUR-VOLUME 1973 CRIME REDUCTION PLAN DESIGNED IN RESPONSE TO THE IMPACT CITIES MANDATE TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP A 'SPECIFIC CRIME' ANALYSIS CAPABILITY AT THE CITY LEVEL TO REDUCE CERTAIN CRIMES BY 5% IN TWO YEARS.
Abstract
THIS VOLUME DESCRIBES DENVER'S OVERALL STRATEGY TO MEASURE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PROJECTS FUNDED UNDER THE IMPACT PROGRAM AND THE PLANNING EFFORTS OF THE ANTI-CRIME COUNCIL STAFF TO INSURE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING BY GRANTEES PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM. THE FORMAT OF THIS EVALUATION PLAN IS PRESENTED IN THREE MAJOR SECTIONS - DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITY, PROJECT OBJECTIVES, AND EVALUATION AND METHODS. THE DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES SECTION INCLUDES A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE HISTORICAL BASELINE DATA BANK AND THE DATA COLLECTION EFFORTS EXPENDED AND ADDRESSES THE TASKS OF AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING AND COMPUTER UTILIZATION IN THE RETRIEVAL AND ANALYSIS OF PROJECT DATA, THE BASELINE DATA BANK, AND THE EVALUATION METHOD. THE SECOND MAJOR SECTION ON THIS PLAN, RELATED PERFORMANCE MEASURES, ATTEMPTS TO SUMMARIZE HOW THE BASE LINE DATA WILL FIT INTO A SYSTEMATIC ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF EVALUATING THE REDUCTION OF CRIME IN THE CITY AND COUNTY OF DENVER. THE THIRD AND FINAL SECTION OF THIS PLAN, PROJECT OBJECTIVES, PROVIDES A DETAILED COMPARISON OF PROJECT OBJECTIVES.
