Abstract
SOUTHWEST YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICE (YES!) IS A COMMUNITY DESIGNED AND BASED PROJECT INTENDED TO SERVE YOUTH 12-18 YEARS OF AGE WHO HAVE ARREST RECORDS FOR HIGH IMPACT CRIME OFFENSES; THEY ARE FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, EITHER FREQUENTLY TRUANT FROM OR HAVE DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL, AND HAVE DEMONSTRATED POOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. YES! CITES AS FIRST YEAR MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FULLY FUNCTIONING YOUTH SERVICE PROGRAM IN DENVER'S SOUTHWEST QUADRANT AND A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN JUVENILE RECIDIVISM.
