The 1988-1989 annual report of Canada's Department of Justice describes efforts during the year to improve the country's criminal justice and legal systems.
Abstract
The annual report focuses generally on department organization and personnel and specifically on sectors concerned with civil law, litigation, public law, legal services, policies and programs, research, and corporate management. Department activities and accomplishments are highlighted as they pertain to constitutional reform issues, free trade and international trade law, fishing rights, legislation, family law, crime victims, child sexual abuse, sentencing, mutual legal assistance, crime proceedings, the Criminal Code, and litigation. Appendixes contain information on statutes for which the Minister of Justice is responsible and on departments and other bodies served by the legal services sector of Canada's Department of Justice, along with a selected list of publications.
