Legislators consider appropriations requests from the Department of Justice and its agencies.
Abstract
The Attorney General and other Government representatives testify to the activities and needs of their agencies, including the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service. Other agencies submitting their budget request include the Drug Enforcement Administration, Community Relations Service, Federal Prison System, Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the Office of Justice Assistance, Research, and Statistics. U.S. Attorneys, Trustees, and Parole commissions officers are also represented. These agencies need funds to continue combating crime, conducting research, assisting refugees, prosecuting drug offenders, and housing inmates. Financial data, legislators' questions, information bulletins, and other illustrations are provided.
