Abstract
THE MEASURE OF RESPONSE TIME MAY BE THE AVERAGE FOR ALL CALLS FOR SERVICE, OR FOR A WEIGHTED FUNCTION OF PRIORITY AND NON-PRIORITY CALLS FOR SERVICE. OPTIMIZATION IS SUBJECT TO CONSTRAINTS ON THE MAXIMUM TRAVEL TIME WITHIN BEATS AND ON THE NUMBERS OF MEN AND CARS AVAILABLE. AN EFFICIENT COMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN WRITTEN AND APPLIED TO THE DESIGN OF BEATS FOR THE AURORA, ILLINOIS, POLICE DEPARTMENT.
