Abstract
The discussion emphasizes proper management as the key to adequate facility protection. Among the contemporary risks to security addressed in this edition are terrorism, white-collar crime, and computer-related losses. The latest advances in security technology and equipment are represented by such tools as minicomputers, microprocessors, and word processors that can perform protection tasks previously handled by costly manpower. These capabilities are explained in chapters covering electronic components and the integration of electronic alarm components. More traditional strategies of facility security are discussed in terms of facility layout, physical barriers and lines of defense, security lighting, secure storage and interior vaults, and locks.
