Abstract
ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS SELECTED FOR THIS BIBLIOGRAPHY WERE PUBLISHED IN THE LAST 10 TO 15 YEARS. MOST OF THE MATERIALS (95 CITATIONS) COVER SPECIFIC EMPIRICAL STUDIES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME PREVENTION, CRIME PREVENTION MANUALS, AND THEORETICAL ARTICLES. THERE ARE, IN ADDITION, 45 REFERENCES WHICH COVER THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PUBLIC ATTITUDES AND CRIME, THE EFFECTS OF COMMUNITY STRUCTURE ON CRIME, AND POSSIBLE WAYS OF CHANGING COMMUNITY PERCEPTIONS TO REDUCE CRIME. THE NINE SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHIES COVER BOTH CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH CHANGES IN THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL COMPONENTS OF CRIME PREVENTION. THE SUMMARY OF KEY STUDIES GIVES EACH STUDY'S AUTHOR AND SPONSORING AGENCY, THE TYPE OF CRIME ADDRESSED, THE TYPE OF SITE, THE NUMBER OF RESPONDENTS (IF A SURVEY WAS USED), THE TYPE OF SURVEY, THE TYPE OF SAMPLE, AND WHETHER OR NOT POLICE RECORDS WERE USED. APPENDIXES GIVE THE SOURCES CONTACTED AND THE JOURNALS REVIEWED TO PREPARE THIS BIBLIOGRAPHY. (GLR)
