THIS REPORT DESCRIBES A PROTOTYPE CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES AND LOCAL POLICE AGENCIES IN SAN MATEO COUNTY (CA).
Abstract
FOLLOWING THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY AND THE INTRODUCTION, CHAPTER THREE PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF THE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS DESIGN. DATA REQUIREMENTS AND REPORT GENERATION ARE DESCRIBED FOR ALL THE PARTICIPATING CRIMINAL JUSTICE FUNCTIONS. THESE INCLUDE POLICE FIELD OPERATIONS, CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION, BOOKING, PROBATION INVESTIGATIONS, CUSTODY OPERATIONS, DATA MANAGEMENT, PROSECUTION/DEFENSE, ADJUDICATION, AND MANAGEMENT PLANNING. THE NEXT TWO CHAPTERS ADDRESS PRISM HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS. CHAPTER SEVEN SUMMARIZES SECURITY AND PRIVACY LEGISLATION AND GUIDELINES; CHAPTER EIGHT INCLUDES THE RECOMMENDED SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN AND COST SCHEDULES; CHAPTER NINE EXPLAINS TWO SYSTEM MANAGEMENT PLANS (ONE FOR SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION AND A SECOND FOR ON-GOING, LONG-TERM SYSTEM OPERATIONS); AND IN CHAPTER TEN THEY DISCUSS THE COST-SHARING RATIONALE AND PRESENT ALTERNATIVE COST-SHARING FORMULAS, WITH ESTIMATED COSTS FOR PARTICIPATING JURISDICTIONS.
