DETROIT POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT DISCUSSES RAPE STATISTICS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS.
Abstract
ONE THIRD OF ALL RAPES IN MICHIGAN ARE COMMITTED IN DETROIT. DETROIT WOMEN IN 1974 HAD A RAPE RISK RATE OF 43.2 PER 100,000. THIS REPORT DRAWS TOGETHER THESE SORTS OF STATISTICS TO RAISE THE NEED FOR ADOPTION OF MORE EFFICIENT RAPE PREVENTION MEASURES. THE REPORT DISCLOSES WHO IS MOST VULNERABLE TO RAPE, AND CONSTRUCTS A PROFILE OF A TYPICAL RAPIST. THE REPORT MENTIONS MICHIGAN'S NEW CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT LAW AS POSSIBLY TACKLING THE PROBLEM, AND POINTS OUT THAT THE DEPARTMENT'S RAPE TASK FORCE HAS HAD AN EFFECT ON CUTTING THE INCIDENCE OF RAPE....BS
