A NEWLY MODIFIED AND IMPROVED LASER APPARATUS (MODEL II) TO DETERMINE POSTMORTEM CORNEAL TURBIDITY IS REPORTED.
Abstract
THE WORKING PRINCIPLE OF THE LASER APPARATUS MODEL II IS THAT THE INTENSITY OF A LASER BEAM, PASSING THROUGH AN EXCISED CORNEA IS CONVERTED INTO ELECTRICAL PULSES BY A PHOTO-CELL, AND THE PULSES ARE AMPLIFED AND REGISTERED TO A VOLTMETER. THE DEGREE OF THE CORNEAL TURBIDITY IS, THEREFORE, EXPRESSED IN AN OBJECTIVE READING OF THE VOLTMETER. BY USING A LASER, AN ATTENUATOR, A COLLIMATER, A SPECIAL FILTER AND A CONTROL ARRANGEMENT IN THE LASAR APPARATUS MODEL II, THE ACCURACY AND EASE IN DETERMINING CORNEAL TURBIDITY AND IN MAINTAINING THE APPARATUS ARE MUCH IMPROVED BY COMPARISON WITH THE EARLIER MODEL.
