BECAUSE THE HAGUE POLICE FORCE OF THE NETHERLANDS IS PAYING MORE AND MORE ATTENTION TO DEVELOPMENT AND LONG-TERM PLANNING WITH REGARD TO ITS POLICIES, THE POLICE COMMISSIONER ESTABLISHED A PLANNING TASK FORCE.
Abstract
THIS TASK FORCE ESTABLISHED A NUMBER OF OBJECTIVES TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THE HAGUE'S POLICE POLICIES: (1) PRESERVE OR RESTORE LEGAL ORDER, (2) PRESERVE OR RESTORE SOCIAL ORDER, (3) ENSURE THAT ONLY THOSE ALIENS WITH PERMITS RESIDE IN THE CITY, (4) ENSURE THE UNINTERRUPTED FUNCTIONING OF GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS, (5) PROMOTE OPENNESS WITHIN THE POLICE FORCE, AND (6) ENCOURAGE THE COMPLETION OF ALL MAJOR AND ESSENTIAL POLICE ASSIGNMENTS IN A TIMELY FASHION. THESE MAJOR OBJECTIVES WERE FORMULATED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE COURSE OF ACTION TO BE TAKEN TO IMPLEMENT THEM BECAME CLEAR. THE EXAMPLE OF PREVENTION OF THEFT WAS USED TO SHOW HOW POLICYMAKING PROCESSES DEVELOP AND HOW TO ARRIVE AT THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION. APPENDIXES PROVIDE OUTLINES OF OTHER OBJECTIVES AND HOW TO REACH THEM, AND A GRAPH OF PROJECTED GOALS. OTHER TABLES ILLUSTRATE THE TEXT. --IN DUTCH. (WVK)
