Abstract
THE SIX BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOGRAPH DISPLAY WAS PRODUCED BY ALTERING THE TIME OF EXPOSURE OF THE PRINT PAPER TO THE DEVELOPING FLUID ON ONE PHOTOGRAPH TO SHOW APPARENTLY DIFFERENT LEVELS OF STREET LIGHTING. THREE PRETESTS CONDUCTED IN BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA DURING THE FALL OF 1973 REVEALED THAT THE PHOTOGRAPHS MOUNTED ON A FOLDING DISPLAY BOARD WERE AN EASILY ADMINISTERED INSTRUMENT TO WHICH MOST RESPONDENTS REACTED FAVORABLY. THE FACT THAT THE DISPLAY ALLOWED ONLY ORDINAL LEVEL MEASUREMENT WAS, HOWEVER, NOTED AS A MAJOR PROBLEM. APPENDED IS CHARTED DATA ON DEVELOPMENT TECHNIQUES FOR THE STREET LIGHTING DISPLAY....ELW
