UNIVERSITY BASED TEACHING AND RESEARCH CENTER DESCRIBES INSERVICE TRAINING AS AN AGENT FOR CHANGE IN CORRECTIONS.
Abstract
THE MAJOR GOAL OF THE TRAINING-DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY WAS TO BRIDGE THE GULF THAT WAS FOUND TO EXIST BETWEEN THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES AND PRACTICE IN THE CORRECTIONAL FIELD. IN ADDITION, THE PROSPECTIVE TRAINING OFFICERS WERE EXPOSED TO A WIDE VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES AND TEACHING TECHNIQUES NOT COMMONLY USED IN CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS. COMMUNICATIONS SKILL AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT THROUGH INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS BECAME A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE TRAINING INSTITUTES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
