Abstract
THE CONCEPT OF DEVIANCE IS EXPLORED AND DEFINED, AND CRIMINAL MANIFESTATION OF DEVIATION ARE TREATED IN DEPTH. DEVIANT STATUSES - SUCH AS ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE, SEXUAL ABERRATIONS, AND MENTAL ILLNESS - ARE DISCUSSED. WILLING VICTIMS - SUICIDES - AND VICTIMLESS CRIMES ARE EXAMINED. THE MOST EXTENSIVE CONSIDERATION IS DEVOTED TO ARTICLES DEALING WITH INNOVATIONS IN MANAGEMENT, CONTROL, AND TREATMENT. SPECIFIC AREAS INCLUDE THE RISE AND FALL OF TOTAL INSTITUTIONS, THE MEDICALIZATION OF MANAGEMENT, BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION AS MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL, COMMUNITY BASED TREATMENT, AND THE RIGHTS OF VICTIMS AND THE RIGHTS OF DEVIANTS.
