This book, "The Dilemma of the Sexual Offender, Second Edition" examines the psychiatric, legal, moral, and bio-social realms surrounding sexual offenders.
Abstract
This book discusses issues pertaining to the psychiatric, legal, moral, and bio-social realms surrounding sexual offenders. The 13 chapters of the book examine the consequences of sexual victimization and the laws dealing with sex offenders. The topics covered in the book include the nature of evil, the role of women in society and the factors that contribute to sexual assault, deviant sexuality, rape and rapists, the sexual sadistic psychopath, lust murderers, the relationship of mental illness to sexual offending, victims of sexual abuse and their abusers, cyber-crime sexual offenders, female sex offenders and clergy child sex offenders, treatment of sex offenders, sex offender law, and the logic of sex offender laws and policies. The primary purpose of the book is to remove the voyeuristic aspect from sexual victimizations that make it difficult for victims and their assailants to receive proper treatment from both the medical and legal communities. The book is intended for use by psychiatrists, lawyers, criminologists, policy analysts, and forensic mental health professionals to help them work more effectively in the real world of sexual offending.
