SOURCES OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, TRAINING, AND INFORMATION SERVICES AVAILABLE TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES AND CITIZEN GROUPS IN VIRGINIA ARE LISTED.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE DIRECTORY IS TO FACILITATE THE USE OF ASSISTANCE RESOURCES THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VIRGINIA'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS LISTED WERE SELECTED PRIMARILY BECAUSE THEY PROVIDE INEXPENSIVE, HIGH-CALIBRE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE-RELATED SERVICES. SOME ARE CONCERNED WITH HELPING COMMUNITY GROUPS UPGRADE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, WHILE OTHERS OFFER SERVICES RELEVANT TO THE NEEDS OF SPECIFIC CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. AMONG THE 17 LISTINGS ARE SEVERAL NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS, INFORMATION CLEARINGHOUSES, REFERENCE SERVICES, AND RESOURCE CENTERS, AS WELL AS AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS IN VIRGINIA. EACH LISTING NOTES A CONTACT PERSON, OUTLINES THE SERVICES PROVIDED, AND INDICATES ANY LIMITATIONS OR FEES. A BIBLIOGRAPHY CITES MATERIALS USEFUL IN LOCATING ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE RESOURCES IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE. (LKM)
