Abstract
THE AUTHOR EXPLORES SELECTED TOPICS ON POLICE LEGAL LIMITATIONS AND THE RIGHTS OF THE SUSPECTS. THE INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS IN THIS PUBLICATION SUMMARIZE THE STATE OF THE LAW UP TO 1971, AND EACH SECTION IS FOLLOWED BY CITATIONS TO PROMINENT FEDERAL AND STATE CASES IN THE AREA. VARIOUS IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURESFINGERPRINTING, LINEUPS, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND ALCOHOL CHEMICAL TESTING- ARE EXAMINED, AND JUDICIAL DECISIONS ON THEIR CONDUCT ARE ANALYZED. THE AUTHOR ALSO OUTLINES THE PROPER TECHNIQUES FOR INTERROGATION AND TAKING CONFESSIONS, THE SUSPECT'S RIGHT TO CONFER WITH COUNSEL AND OTHERS, AND THE EFFECTS OF UNREASONABLE DELAY IN TAKING SUSPECTS BEFORE A MAGISTRATE.
