Abstract
The guide is organized into broad groups of management issues: general management, architectural design, classification, inmate supervision, programs and services, and management assessment. The guide also provides a recommended set of comprehensive management practices for disruptive inmates, addressing issues ranging from identification of these inmates through supervision, programs, services, and criteria for release back into the general inmate population. Two key chapters discuss issues fundamental to any approach to disruptive inmate management and means of assessing existing and future management practices. Appended case studies provide ideas for modifying current policies and procedures pertaining to disruptive inmates, as well as for developing new ones. Appended major findings of a questionnaire survey and sample questionnaires for performance evaluation, 120-item bibliography.
