FINAL REPORT OF A PROJECT TO DISSEMINATE THE RESULTS OF THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY PILOT PROGRAM WITHIN LEAA (LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION) REGION IX AND TO TEST AND DEMONSTRATE A REGIONAL DISSEMINATION PROJECT.
Abstract
THE PROJECT WAS ALSO INTENDED TO DEVELOP SUGGESTED GOALS, STANDARDS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH WILL STIMULATE AND ACCOMPLISH TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND UTILIZATION OF TECHNOLOGY PRODUCED BY LEAA-FUNDED DOCUMENTS. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, BROCHURES WERE PREPARED SUMMARIZING THE WORK OF EIGHT LOCAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS AND WERE MAILED TO 4500 IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN AMERICAN SAMOA, ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, NEVADA, AND PAGO PAGO, THE JURISDICTIONS THAT MAKE UP REGION IX. IN ADDITION TO THE BROCHURES, THE PROJECT DISSEMINATED TWO NEWSLETTERS, CONDUCTED A WORKSHOP FOR 85 INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN MEETING WITH DEMONSTRATION PROJECT DIRECTORS, AND SENT OUT QUESTIONNAIRES TO THE 4500 PERSONS ON THE MAILING LIST TO EVALUATE PROJECT SUCCESS OR FAILURE. ANALYSIS OF RESPONSES REVEALED THAT ALL THREE OBJECTIVES HAVE BEEN MET TO SOME EXTENT OR OTHER. MORE STUDY OF DISSEMINATION PROCESSES IS RECOMMENDED.
