Abstract
THE AUTHORS DISCUSS THE COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL CENTER CONCEPT WHICH AIMS TO FACILITATE THE OFFENDERS RE-ENTRY INTO THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A TRANSITIONAL BASE. THE PROBLEMS WHICH DEVELOP, SUCH AS THE USE OF DRUGS, ABSCONDING, AND COMMUNITY OPPOSITION ARE DISCUSSED ALSO. THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIFFERENT CENTERS AND THE SPECIAL PROGRAMS THEY OFFER, SUCH AS A NARCOTICS TREATMENT CENTER AND HOUSES FOR ADULT FELONS ONLY. IN VIEW OF THE CHRONIC DRUG PROBLEM IN URBAN AREAS, DISCUSSION OF THE IMPACT OF THE AVAILABILITY OF DRUGS ON COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL CENTERS IS INCLUDED.
