Data and information on District of Columbia (DC) courts for 2001 pertain to court management activities as well as civil and criminal case activity, social services activity, and court reporting and recording.
Abstract
New initiatives in court management focused on improving court operations by streamlining case processing, permitting the electronic filing of documents, creating a family court dedicated to resolving the problems of children and families, enhancing courthouse security, ensuring fiscal integrity, and increasing access to data across court operations and within the District's criminal justice community are presented in this report. Four tables and one exhibit present data and information on DC courts' finances. This is followed by a description of the various ways in which the courts and court personnel have become involved in constructive community activities. Statistics are then provided on various courts' criminal and civil case filings, processing, and dispositions. Tables also present statistics on family case activity, probate case activity, and the processing of alternative dispute resolution. Tables that reflect social services activity of the courts encompass juvenile supervision, child abuse supervision, and the domestic relations diagnostic caseload. Extensive tables and figures
