Abstract
The statistical data provided in the report represent five- and ten-year trends and parallel the flow of cases through the District's criminal justice system, ranging from reported offenses to corrections and parole. The District's criminal justice and juvenile justice processes are described, emphasizing case flow for youths and adults from arrest through release back to the community. The law enforcement section of the report includes information about arrests and characteristics of arrestees as well as a geographic analysis of the location of crime in the city. A section on the courts includes data on prosecutions and convictions by offense type and provides data on the average daily population of the District's correctional facilities and incarceration rates. A section on parole provides data on grants and revocations, while a section on juvenile justice includes information on juvenile arrests, prosecutions, dispositions, and drug use.
