CHARACTERISTICS OF GOOD TIME RELEASEES AND PAROLEES UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA BOARD OF PAROLE FOR WHOM WARRANTS FOR ARREST WERE ISSUED.
Abstract
THE WARRANT RELEASEES WERE PREDOMINANTLY NEGRO MALES, OF A MEDIAN AGE OF 38.5 YEARS. OVER HALF WERE SINGLE. A HIGHER PROPORTION OF THE PAROLEE GROUP WAS MARRIED AS COMPARED WITH THE GOOD TIME RELEASEES. THE GOOD TIME RELEASEES HAD A HIGHER PROPORTION OF NARCOTIC OFFENDERS THAN THE PAROLEE GROUP. THE PAROLEE GROUP HAD MORE CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON AND PROPERTY CRIMES. THE SUPERVISORY OFFICER USES HIS DISCRETION IN DECIDING WHETHER OR NOT TO ISSUE A WARRANT FOR ARREST. POSSIBLE REASONS FOR ARREST INCLUDE FAILURE TO COOPERATE OR THE COMMISSION OF A NEW OFFENSE. SEVERAL TABLES COMPARING CHARACTERISTICS OF RELEASEES AND PAROLEES ARE INCLUDED.
