This report monitors the Delaware Department of Corrections' inmate forecast from December 31, 1990 to March 31, 1992 as it describes the total population and the detained (pretrial), jail (sentences 1 year and less), and prison (sentences greater than 1 year) subpopulations and compares them with the projections.
Abstract
Tables contain the actual and forecasted admissions and population, the difference, and the difference expressed as a percentage of the actual. Total population and admissions were 3,521, 233 (7.1 percent) above the forecasted 3,288. Detention admissions for the quarter were 2,218, 6 (0.3 percent) higher than the forecasted 2,212. Jail admissions for the quarter were 1,011, 160 (18.8 percent) higher than the forecasted 851. Prison admissions for the quarter were 292, 67 (29.8 percent) higher than the forecasted 225. The study also compares reported crime with total inmate admissions. The purpose of this analysis is to compare rates of change. 5 figures and 4 tables
