Georgia's 1990 strategy in implementing drug enforcement and criminal justice improvement projects is presented.
Abstract
The Drug Control and System Improvement Formula Grant Program establishes a program of criminal justice grants to aid states and local governments in implementing effective drug enforcement and other criminal justice improvement projects. Georgia's 1990 strategy identifies several program areas which can effectively address illicit drug and violent crime activity in the State. It is anticipated that a large portion of this year's allocation will be designated to locally implemented multi-jurisdictional task force projects. Additionally, funding is expected to be allocated to continue statewide drug enforcement and offender treatment initiatives and to support statewide forensic services and statewide drug enforcement training. This strategy was developed utilizing information elicited from the statewide criminal justice community through a survey conducted by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the input of a drug control and system improvement advisory council and interviews with key authorities in the State regarding drug enforcement, drug treatment, drug prevention and education, and violent crime.
