Abstract
THE DATA WAS GATHERED BY MEANS OF A NATIONWIDE PROBABILITY SAMPLE DESIGN TO REACH ADULTS AGE 18 AND OLDER AND YOUNG PEOPLE AGE 12-17. DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENTS INCLUDED AN INTERVIEW FORM FOR PERSONAL INTERVIEWS WITH ADULTS, AN INTERVIEW FORM FOR PERSONAL INTERVIEWS WITH THE TEENAGE SAMPLE, THREE DIFFERENT SELF-ADMINISTERED QUESTIONNAIRES ON CIGARETTE AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONSUMPTION, EXPERIENCE, USAGE AND USAGE PATTERNS FOR MARIJUANA, AND EXPERIENCE AND USAGE FOR HEROIN, LSD, COCAINE, AND INHALANTS. THIS DOCUMENT IS A PRESENTATION OF THE MAIN FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON FINDINGS ON THE ATTITUDE CLIMATE FOR DRUGS, BELIEFS ABOUT HEROIN AND MARIHUANA, THE MEANINGS OF DRUG ABUSE, OPINIONS AND BELIEFS ABOUT THE LAW.
