Abstract
Chapter 1 provides an assessment of therapeutic compliance based upon the analysis of drug concentrations in hair. Chapter 2 explores the role of biological and mechanical analysis techniques for alcohol and other drugs of abuse in addiction management and psychiatric treatment. Chapter 3 explains the effects of physiochemical factors on incorporation of drugs into hair and behavior of drugs in hair root. In Chapter 4, the utilization of ion mobility spectrometry in a criminal justice setting is discussed. Chapter 5 describes a longitudinal study of comparison of self-report, urine sample, and hair sample testing for drug use. Chapter 6 tests the validation of the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI) with female juvenile detainees. Chapter 7 focuses on drug monitoring in the field, specifically applying hair assays and urinalysis for cocaine to probationers. In Chapter 8, drug-testing applications in an offender diversion program are discussed. Chapter 9 describes ways of testing for drugs of abuse in the pediatric population.
