Abstract
Juvenile and family court judges are uniquely placed to deal with the crisis of drugs in the American family but cannot effectively reduce the problem alone. Necessary is a national awareness and commitment at all social levels to reducing the demand for drugs and their misuse or abuse. Members of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges conclude that families and children must be the primary focus of America's national strategy. Only the community can develop and sustain accessible programs to successfully prevent and control drug abuse and to create a positive social environment.
