This 75-minute videotape, accompanied by a 24-page study guide and instructor's manual, demonstrates how alert law enforcement officers can track down illegal drugs, identify offenders, conduct a thorough and legal search, and make an arrest.
Abstract
The videotape is divided into seven segments, each designed to support an hour-long session: narcotics, heroin, stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, drug abusers on the street, and drugs in motor vehicles. These discussions provide basic information on forms, street names, effects, and paraphernalia for all commonly abused drugs. Other guidelines address behavioral indicators of drug abuse, establishing probable cause, and personal safety in handling drugs. The lesson on identifying possible drug dealers or abusers in motor vehicles covers suspicious behavior in both parked and moving cars, approaching a vehicle, dealing with rented cars, and searching a car. The instructor's manual includes discussion questions, a glossary, and a reference chart on drug uses and effects.
