A sample of 91 nonfamilial child molesters and 38 father/daughter incest offenders were assessed and interviewed at an outpatient treatment clinic regarding various aspects of their deviant sexuality.
Abstract
Twenty-nine percent of the sample reported having deviant sexual fantasies prior to age 20; this characteristic was reported by 41 percent of those who had molested other people's sons. Fourteen percent of the nonfamilial offenders against boys, almost 12 percent of the nonfamilial offenders against girls, and nearly 8 percent of the incest offenders reported one or two paraphilia additional to their index offense; only three from the entire sample reported more than two additional paraphilia. Although this data corroborated a previous, major study on child molesters and their sexual deviancy in finding that most adult sex offenders develop their behaviors during adolescence, the two studies differed on all the major issues discussed above. 2 tables and 15 references (Author abstract modified)
