REPORT ON TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RENDERED TO OKLAHOMA'S EAST CENTRAL STATE COLLEGE IN REVIEWING THE NEED FOR AND CONTENTS OF A PROJECT CRIMINAL JUSTICE CURRICULUM.
Abstract
THE CONSULTANT CONDUCTED AN ONSITE VISIT ON MARCH 4-6, 1973. DURING THIS TIME, MEETINGS WERE HELD WITH FACULTY MEMBERS, THE COLLEGE'S LAW ENFORCEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE, AND AN OFFICIAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. THE CONSULTANT FOUND THAT THE STATE'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION SYSTEM LACKS BOTH UNDERGRADUATE CORRECTIONS PROGRAMS AND COURSES ADDRESSING THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. HE ALSO FOUND THAT A NUMBER OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES WERE LOCATED IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE CAMPUS. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT PLANNING A CORRECTIONS CURRICULUM BE UNDERTAKEN AND THAT THE COLLEGE'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE APPROPRIATE REPRESENTATIVES FROM AGENCIES TO BE SERVED. FURTHER ASSISTANCE IN PREPARING APPLICATIONS FOR LEEP (LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM) FUNDING AND CONTACTING POSSIBLE INSTRUCTORS WAS FURNISHED.
