THIS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WAS DESIGNED TO DETERMINE THE DESIRABILITY OF AN ORGANIZED POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE TOWN OF EAST GRANBY (CT) (POPULATION 3,900; AREA 17.4 SQUARE MILES) - THE REPORT IS DATED SEPTEMBER, 1976.
Abstract
THE REPORT RECOMMENDS AGAINST THE FORMATION OF AN ORGANIZED POLICE DEPARTMENT AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, THE ROLE OF CONSTABLE SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO THE PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF CRIMES AND SERIOUS INCIDENTS. THE RESIDENT STATE TROOPERS SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE USED. OBJECTIVE CRITERIA ARE PRESENTED IN THIS REPORT TO HELP THE TOWN MAKE FUTURE DECISIONS REGARDING THE FORMATION OF ITS OWN POLICE DEPARTMENT.
