This document reports on activities at the 105th International Seminar on the Effective Administration of Criminal Justice for the Prevention of Corruption by Public Officials.
Abstract
Seminar participants discussed: (1) corruption by public officials (reasons and background, current penal legislation against such corruption, examples and statistics on detection and punishment); (2) problems and solutions in administrating criminal justice with regard to corruption by public officials (independence and neutrality of investigative agencies and courts, problems in detection and investigation, expanding and intensifying applicable laws, sentencing policies and measures); (3) corruption prevention measures (recruiting, disciplining and promoting public officials, internal inspection and punishment, cooperation between criminal justice agencies and administrative organizations, public awareness); and (4) corruption in the criminal justice system and preventative measures.
