Abstract
The first part of the text covers design, with particular attention paid to the need for collaboration in the building design phase between crime prevention and security officers and architects, security surveys, crime prevention through environmental design strategies and applications, and approaches to physical security. In focusing on equipment, the second part of the text emphasizes physical barriers, the use of locks in physical crime prevention, safes and vaults, security lighting, alarms and intrusion detection systems, closed circuit television surveillance, electronic surveillance and wiretapping, physical access control for computer areas, and electronic access control and system integration.
