THIS PSYCHOLOGICAL AND CRIMINOLOGICAL STUDY, BASED ON EMPIRICAL RESEARCH, FOCUSES ON JUVENILE DELINQUENTS AND THE EFFECTS OF SENTENCING ON THEIR PERSNALITIES AND THEIR SOCIAL ATTITUDES.
Abstract
THIS IS REPRESENTATIVE STUDY IS THE BASIS FOR THE REFORM OF JUVENILE DETENTION IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY. SIX YEARS OF INTENSIVE WORK WITH JUVENILES AT PREARRAIGNMENT AND DETENTION CENTERS PROVIDED THE EMPIRICAL DATA FOR THIS STUDY. A GENERAL INTRODUCTION COVERS SUCH TOPICS AS: POSSIBLE TREATMENT FOR JUVENILES WITH ASOCIAL BEHAVIOR, LEGISLATIVE AID, SPECIAL PROBLEMS OF JUVENILE DETENTION, JUVENILE DETENTION COMPARED TO SIMILAR FOREIGN MEASURES, RESEARCH IN THE AREA OF TREATMENT AT INSTITUTIONS, AND NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF LEGISLATION DESIGNED TO PROTECT YOUNG PEOPLE. FOLLOWING CHAPTERS DISCUSS THE PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION OF THE STUDY AND THE INTERPRETATION OF DATA. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO RECIDIVISM IN LIGHT OF THE TREATMENT MODEL, AND TO THE RELATION BETWEEN THE VARIABLES. THE TEXT PROVIDES AN EXTENSIVE LIST OF TABLES AND CHARTS, AS WELL AS REFERENCES.
