THIS REPORT PROVIDES A FUNCTIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND DEFINITION OF THE CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (CPTED) APPROACH.
Abstract
IT DESCRIBES THE CPTED PROGRAM BEING CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION IN TERMS OF ITS DEFINITIONS AND GOALS, AS WELL AS THE MAJOR STUDIES WHICH LED TO ITS ESTABLISHMENT. STRATEGIC MODELS FOR THE RESIDENTIAL, TRANSPORTATION, SCHOOL, AND COMMERCIAL ENVIRONMENTS ARE DESCRIBED AND DISCUSSED, AS IS CRIME DISPLACEMENT. SEE ALSO NCJ-36571, 73, 74, AND NCJ-36575.
