Abstract
The biography traces the childhood of Eliot Ness, his college years, and his early career as a prohibition agent in the 1920s when organized criminal organizations were involved in the illegal liquor trade. The biography also looks at the entry of Eliot Ness into an environment characterized by the operations of Al Capone and other organized criminal figures and details the activities of Eliot Ness throughout the 1920s and 1930s to infiltrate organized criminal mobs and specifically take down Al Capone. The biography notes Eliot Ness went on to serve as Director of Public Safety in Cleveland where he focused on organized crime and gangs in that city and worked to clean up the police department.
