FOUR-PART STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF THE NEW YORK STATE COURT OF APPEALS DECISION PROSCRIBING CONFINEMENT OF JUVENILE STATUS OFFENDERS IN THE SAME INSTITUTIONS AS JUVENILE DELINQUENTS, WITH CONCLUSIONS DRAWN FROM THE STUDY.
Abstract
THE STUDY ASSESSES THE ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSE TO THE DECISION, AND TRACES THE RELOCATION OF JUVENILE STATUS OFFENDER'S FROM PROGRAMS SHARED WITH JUVENILE DELINQUENTS TO PROGRAMS OF THEIR OWN. THE STUDY EXAMINES THE SIMILARITIES OF THESE PROGRAMS TO THE DELINQUENTS' PROGRAMS. FINALLY, THE STUDY DISCUSSES THE IMPACT OF THE DECISION ON FAMILY COURT PROCESSES. APPENDIXES GIVE FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE FINDINGS AND METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY.
