Abstract
ALCOHOLICS AND ALCOHOL ABUSERS ARE FIRST DISTINGUISHED AS TWO DIFFERENT CATEGORIES. THE AUTHOR CONTENDS THAT ALCOHOLICS HAVE NOT LEARNED TO DRINK RESPONSIBLY AND THAT THE DISEASE MODEL OF ALCOHOLISM IS BASICALLY COUNTERPRODUCTIVE IN PROVIDING THERAPEUTIC ASSISTANCE TO PROBLEM DRINKERS.
