Abstract
This paper presents the criminal justice community with a detailed research agenda addressing the key issues in domestic and family violence (DFV) Australia. Recent reports examining the operation of the family law system and how the family law courts deal with cases involving family violence found that the 'family law system has some way to go in effectively respond to issues relating to family violence'. Based on these reports and other research, the following have been identified as emerging issues in DFV research: Domestic and family violence in rural and remote communities; domestic and family violence in gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex communities; domestic and family violence and the elderly; domestic and family violence and disability; domestics and family violence in culturally and linguistically diverse communities; domestic and family violence and Indigenous communities; domestic and family violence and homelessness; the impact of domestic and family violence on children; and perpetrator programs.
