Abstract
AFTER THE INTRODUCTORY REMARKS OF THE CONFERENCE, THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE TEXTS OF SEVEN CONFERENCE ADDRESSES. THE SPEAKERS DISCUSS THE PROBLEMS OF COURTHOUSE PLANNING AND DESIGN FROM THE PERSPECTIVES OF THE COURT ADMINISTRATOR, THE JUDGE, LAWYERS, THE CONSULTING ARCHITECT, THE CITIZEN, AND THE FUNDING AGENCY. PART OF THE CONFERENCE WAS DEVOTED TO INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS AND CRITIQUES OF THREE COURTHOUSES, SELECTED AS REPRESENTATIVE OF DISTINGUISHED COURT FACILITIES. EXCERPTED STATEMENTS ON THESE COURTHOUSES ARE INCLUDED IN THE PROCEEDINGS. FINALLY, TRANSCRIPTS OF THE WORKSHOP DISCUSSIONS ARE PROVIDED. TOPICS DISCUSSED INCLUDED GENERAL PLANNING AND FUNDING OF COURT FACILITIES, SPECIALIZED COURT REQUIREMENTS, COURTHOUSE DESIGN CRITERIA, AND COURT ADMINISTRATION.
