The security field continues to evolve rapidly, and this book recognizes that security management must be applied wherever protective efforts are organized on a significant scale, such as in government, the military, or the business sector.
Abstract
The product of rapid evolution in the security field is specialization. Security managers who are experts in computer security, for example, may be knowledgeable in electronic data processing but may not know much about behavioral sciences or traditional management functions. Security managers must operate in a continuous learning mode, since security applications of electronic technology have exploded in recent years. The encyclopedia of security management contains comprehensive information on security management functions and on advances that have been made in electronic technology, forensic sciences, and human motivation. The encyclopedia should be useful to both students and practitioners; topics are arranged in alphabetical order and follow a prescribed editorial format. Readers interested in a particular security-related subject should be able to obtain the basics on that topic and understand the potential for applying the information to their job, business, or industry.
