Abstract
The volume is also intended for use by shelter and system advocates, policymakers, health planners, criminal justice practitioners, and others in the health and social services areas. The six sections focus on: (1) policy issues and professional education of health care providers, (2) the dynamics of domestic violence, (3) spouse abuse and pregnancy, (4) health care and related services for children and adolescents who live in or have run away from violent homes, (5) clinical applications and interventions, and (6) culturally specific clinical interventions. Strategies are presented for violence prevention, early identification, clinical interventions, and policy reform. Chapters are also presented on adolescent, black, Native American Indian, Hispanic, migrant, and rural abused women and their children. Figures, tables, lists of resource organizations, index, and approximately 500 references
