MEDICAL ASPECTS OF OPIATE ADDICTION, INCLUDING DEATH AMONG INSTITUTIONALIZED NARCOTIC ADDICTS, DEATH DUE TO WITHDRAWAL, SUICIDE AMONG HOSPITALIZED ADDICTS, AND THE ABSENCE OF MAJOR MEDICAL COMPLICATIONS AMONG CHRONIC ADDICTS, ARE EXPLORED. A SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY FOR EPIDEMIOLOGISTS IS INCLUDED.
