This document contains Aerospace Corporation¦s descriptions of 78 technological development projects for combating crime.
Abstract
Included are projects that addressed the needs of police, courts, and corrections agencies, as well as those that addressed the security issues of private homes and businesses. Emphasis was on combating five types of crime: robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, rape, and murder. The corporation made every effort to include all projects that appeared reasonable and did not violate the basic laws of physics. Projects were evaluated and ranked according to the following criteria: 1) Problem-area priority as defined by the MITRE Corporation; 2) Technical factors; 3) Application and economic factors; 4) Expected level of research and development funding; and 5) Social, political, and legislative factors. "Cost-Effective Security Alarm System" ranked number one.
